Remember the darling cabinet that I posted about earlier this month? Well, I painted another piece the same color. There is an obvious difference between this painted desk and the painted cabinet. The painted cabinet was painted over bare wood, while this desk was painted over a creamy white paint. The creamy white shows a bit in the distressed areas of the desk.
Here is a before picture of the desk...
It was raining outside and I really wanted to work on this project, so I thought..why not paint just inside? The next morning, after the paint was completely dry, I grabbed my sandpaper and started to distress a few areas of the desk. At first I did not like that the creamy white paint was showing through in the distressed areas, but after living with it for a couple of days, I am starting to really like it.

After distressing the desk, I but on a thin coat of "Valspar Mocha Glaze" and finished it off with "Howard Premium Paste Wax."
Still trying to decide on which hardware to use...the vintage drawer pulls?
Or the vintage glass knobs?
Which hardware do you think looks best,
the glass knob or the drawer pull?

Love this!!! Great color & love the legs!! So cute!! Great Job -Liz
ReplyDeleteLove it and absolutely the drawer pulls! They are just striking against that color and I think the glass knobs kind of disappear into it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love the paint color...so pretty!! Both drawer pulls look great but if I had to pick one, I think I would go with the glass knobs.
ReplyDeleteOkay I totally love that!! It looks just too cute.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the drawer pulls!!! They go better with the distressed look you gave it.
It looks darling Emily! My last post has original hardware vs glass knobs as well. I really love both looks, but the glass knobs give it a cutesier look and the originals a more sophisticated one. So I suppose it all depends in what you're going for! Good job, though, love the color.
ReplyDeleteLove the color and the vintage look! I preferred the glass knob, but both look so good I can see why it was a tough decision.
ReplyDeleteLove that color! I think I like the drawer pulls...
ReplyDeleteSuch a beauty! Love that color and those knobs.
ReplyDeletelove it! looks great.
ReplyDeleteI adore this color! Thanks for linking up at Craft and Tell Tuesdays!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I like the drawer pulls because they stand out more xx
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for the drawer pulls, they "show" better. But girl! I am seriously in love with that color - I recently painted my tiny foyer table in a somewhat similar color and I am in love with my table:) Thanks for sharing your lovely painting with us!

So cute! Although the pulls look great, I'm a glass knob girl! I LOVE glass knobs :)
ReplyDeleteI love that. The pull decision is a tough one. I say glass knobs for a bedroom, original pulls for a common room. They both look fantastic (just not at the same time:) ).
ReplyDeleteThe color is great and I vote for the glass knobs. I have similiar ones around my house and love them.
ReplyDeleteEmily, I love this color. I definitely vote for the drawer pulls. They make a nice show on this piece.
ReplyDeleteGlass! But both are pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the color you used! Definitely the glass pull is my vote. Either way the desk is beautiful! I love turquoise!

glass knobs all the way!
ReplyDeleteI love the color!! It looks great! I love the glass knobs.. but the other hardware looks nice too for a more serious look! =)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table!!! I love the glass knob!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! And beautiful choice on the color. I thought glass knobs right away with the cream coat under it has a softer look, but the pulls look good too- I agree that it depends where you put it. Your crowd is divided-please let us know what you decide. Thanks for sharing your talents.

I love the character in refurbished furniture. Good job on this one!
ReplyDeleteI love the color and the distressing! I think both handles look great but I think I prefer the glass knob.
ReplyDeleteGreat color. I'm no help with the handles, they are both nice on it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!!! I think the original pulls 'pop' a bit more. I'd go for the glass ones if it were in a bedroom, though.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, I love it! The vintage pulls for me :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I like the vintage pulls:), I am going to start following your page, too!
