Remember my $5 find?

I gave this little chair a little more detail and charm by adding two wooden appliques, a fresh coat of paint, and new fabric.

I was thinking about painting this chair a creamy white or a pure bright white, but I wanted to go with a color that I don't usually use and a color that would still be quite neutral...a soft green (MS garden shed). I distressed it a bit and added the smallest amount of Valspar Mocha Glaze, mainly to the appliques to bring out their details.

Love this fabric! I found it on clearance at JoAnn's...originally $40 a yard, I got it for $11.

I love the new and improved version of my $5 chair. Can't wait to find the perfect place to put it!

  3. Loooove this! Great idea to use the wooden appliques? Where did you buy those? And did you use wood glue to apply them? Such a great color and a pretty fabric too. Of course, now I want to go out and find a chair exactly like this! Ideally with the same price :).

    Wonderful job Emily!

  24. I like the appliques, and I especially like that you did not paint it white! Everyone and their grandma shows white furniture online and it gets boring to look at it after a while. It's nice to see a change in color! The chair is still neutral enough you can move it from room to room to enjoy!
